A LinkedIn post is limited to 3,000 characters. The counter works on the final text, formatting included, exactly like LinkedIn.

How to write in bold on LinkedIn

  1. Paste your post into the editor.
  2. Read the counter below the editor: it turns orange near the limit and red beyond.
  3. Shorten the text or remove some bold if needed.

Why bold counts twice

Bold and italic letters are “long” Unicode characters that take two units. A 2,800-character post can go over the limit once formatted.

What length to aim for

Posts of 800 to 1,500 characters get read to the end. The 3,000 limit is useful for long formats, as long as the text has room to breathe.
